A DGERC training day for Woodland Guardian Volunteers. Caldons Wood is in the Cree Valley, near Newton Stewart. Booking essential. Meet at 11 am in the car park, bring a packed lunch and wet weather gear.

A Christmas get together for new and existing Woodland Guardians participants. A talk on birds of prey in Dumfries and Galloway followed by an outing to the Red Kite feeding station at Laurieston to see these impressive birds up close.

Outline programme
10.15hrs. Meet Harbour Square Car Park, Kirkcudbright. Sign in. ( Look for green and blue panelled umbrella ).
10.30 - 11.30 hrs. Kirkcudbright Town Hall meeting room. ( very close to the car park ).
11.30 hrs. or earlier. Travel to Location 1. and investigate.
13.00 - 13.30 hrs. Lunch.
13.30 - 14.00 hrs. Travel to Location 2 then investigate.
15.30 hrs. Travel back to Harbour Square Car Park for 16.00 ( hopefully ) dispersal.

Location 1 is at Grid Ref. NX 663 491, Excursion 5 in BGS.

Why not come along to the next Castle Loch Volunteer Group session? We'd like to survey the mammals, large or small, which call the Castle Loch Home. Local wildlife enthusiast Andy Riches will be there to show us which methods he uses to survey mammals. Any sightings collected will be passed onto the Dumfries & Galloway Environmental Resource Centre.
