Wednesday 14 May 2008, 8:30 pm
Caerlaverock WWT reserve - 7.30pm
Meeting to discuss the establishment of a new Amphibian and Reptile Group in Dumfries and Galloway. Everyone welcome. Please contact Mark Pollitt at DGERC to book. There may be a small charge (£2-3).
Peter Leach, an experienced herpetologist from the Lothians Amphibian and Reptile Group will give a presentation about the work of their local group and provide advice on how to go about setting up our new group. We will then have the opportunity to discuss issues and questions. It would be helpful if attendees look through the attached document before the meeting which gives advice on setting up a group and will aid our discussions.
Mark Pollitt will give a short presentation on a new fungus disease in UK amphibians and how the group might help to monitor local amphibian populations for this disease.
Finally a representative from WWT will give a brief introduction to amphibian conservation work at Caerlaverock before taking the group for a walk to see and hear Natterjacks on the reserve.
